The Houston Audubon Society surveys birds at the UHCC monthly and submits the data to eBird. View a list of species that they have observed (over 150 total).
The UHCC herbarium, located in the laboratory building, has most of the common plant species found at the site. The collection has been digitized, allowing all the specimens to be viewed online in a searchable database. Go to The Texas Oklahoma Regional Consortium of Herbaria, click on “Search”, then “Search Collections.” De-select all the herbaria except for the University of Houston Coastal Center, and search for any species or genus that’s of interest to you. To get a complete species list for the UHCC, enter “USA” in country and leave the other search terms blank.
There is an iNaturalist “project” for the University of Houston Coastal Center with over 500 species observed at the site (View Project). You can use the search tool or the “filters” tab to narrow the observations to particular taxa.
The UHCC GPS network is primarily designed for monitoring land subsidence, which is widespread within the greater Houston area. A detailed introduction to the UHCC GPS network and preliminary research results is available in a recent publication. The UHCC GPS network is also part of the broader Houston GPS network (HoustonNet) for subsidence and faulting monitoring. Raw GPS data are archived at UNAVCO, and processed displacement time series can be requested by contacting gwang@uh.edu.
A 2022 study sampled vegetation and soil at 77 location in the UHCC. View Report & Data
It is now standard practice that all data used in scientific papers be archived in a publicly available repository. Many of the more recent UHCC publications will have links to data.
